Questions, answered
Why does alt text matter?
Alt text is read aloud by screen readers, so shoppers with visual impairments know what a product looks like. Search engines also use it to understand images, which helps your products appear in image search. Many stores have hundreds of images with no alt text at all.
Will the app change my store without asking?
No. Single generations are shown as a suggestion and only saved when you click Save. “Generate all” only fills images that have no alt text, unless you turn on “Also regenerate existing alt text” in Settings.
Which AI do you use, and what is sent to it?
We use Claude by Anthropic. For each image we send the image URL, the product title and your style settings, and nothing else. No customer or order data is ever sent. Anthropic processes this as our sub-processor and does not use it to train its models. Details are in our privacy policy.
What counts as one generation?
One AI description of one image. If translations are on, all of your store languages are written in the same generation, so a store with five languages still uses one generation per image.
What happens when I reach my monthly allowance?
Generation pauses until the 1st of next month (UTC), or you can upgrade instantly. Alt text you have already saved stays in your store.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Your saved alt text stays in Shopify because it belongs to your store. Our copy of your settings and generation history is deleted when Shopify asks us to remove your store’s data, 48 hours after uninstall.
